Dear Grampa...

Dear Grampa, I have never had such an overwhelming feeling of uncertanity . I will always remember all the time we spent at your house. I will never forget how you would always come and pick us up from school at Our Lady of the Rosary when it rained. I remember when you you would stop by our house on Sunday yelling for my mom so she could go with you to get menudo. She would run around looking for a pot with a lid trying to hurry because you would keep honking and yelling at her.

I remember when you would come by and bring the Sunday paper, you always had a stack on your seat beacuase you took all of them out of the newspaper stand. Not only did you play music and make us dance, but you would always put the speakers out the door so the whole neighborhood could hear the mexican music at 6a.m.. I can still hear you calling for Rachel, "Vieja, Vieja!". I guess it is a sound I'll never forget. I wish I only had good memories of you, but I don't. I want you to know that I was never mad or felt any hatered towards you. I was just a confused kid who couldn't understand why grampa did that? I had to stay away from you not because I was angry, but because it was no longer okay for us to pretend that what you did to many of us was okay.

I missed seeing you and being a part of our family. I would have never imagined that it would turn out like this. Being at "Grampa's house" was such a big part of my life. We spent so much time there playing, eating, being scared of the ghost. I miss it. I hope that you are in heaven and I will pray that you are. I just want to let you know that I forgave you a long time ago.

I love you.
